String quartet or String trio?
The ensembles size choice is yours of course, but we have a few suggestions for you to consider. A small wedding may only call for a duo or trio.
Duos - Duos are often performed as a violin and cello ensemble or flute and violin or viola and violin. Other options with guitar and woodwinds exist too. There are many other combinations available.
String Trios and String Quartets - Larger weddings benefit from the increased volume that is available when a trio or quartet performs. For events of 150 guests or more, we recommend a string quartet.
The trumpet can be added to just about any ensemble and adds a regal touch to the wedding ceremony. Often the trumpet performs a short fanfare to announce the entrance of the bride before the procession begins. You can preview trios and quartets with trumpet in the videos below.
Occasionally, we are asked to perform solo violin or cello. We are happy to do so, but we strongly feel that you will be more happy with the music if you have a harmony instrument accompany and strengthen the melody line. Please ask us if you are not sure what ensemble size you should choose. String quartets and string trios perform in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro. over 90% of the time.
